Stay & Play Counseling, LLC

Katie Fischer, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC

Hello!! The fact that you have made your way here is HUGE!   It means that you have taken the first step to seeking the help your child. Finding the way to a healthy, happy child is a journey that takes one step at a time.

My name is Katie Fischer and I am the owner of Stay & Play Counseling, LLC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, and Nationally Certified Counselor who is passionate about using the power of play to help children reach their fullest potential. Each child deserves a personal, unique approach to achieving their best self and I believe Play Therapy is the answer! Play Therapy allows the child to process these struggles through a non-judgemental, play-based approach with a safe, trusting adult. Through Play Therapy, children learn ways to improve communication skills, express feelings appropriately, gain problem solving skills, and develop better relational skills. I value a strong relationship with my client, as well as their caregivers, and communication between the family and therapist.

I work with children (as young as 3 years old) and teens with issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, school-related struggles, death and loss, divorce, peer/sibling conflict, and anger management.

Finding the right person to work with  can be a daunting process and I am so glad you found Stay & Play! Please reach out to me with any questions that you may have or to learn more about my practice.

Alyssa Springston, MA, PLPC

My name is Alyssa Springston. My goal in working with children and adolescents is to help them build resilience, navigate big emotions, and recognize their unique strengths. I integrate play therapy and other evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support children in expressing their feelings, processing life experiences, and developing healthy coping strategies.

My therapeutic approach is child-centered, compassionate, and nonjudgmental, with an emphasis on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where each child feels seen, heard, and understood. While childhood and adolescence are seasons of tremendous growth and discovery, they can also bring challenges such as anxiety, self-doubt, and stress. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and connection is essential to supporting children through these experiences. I also value collaboration with parents and caregivers, recognizing the important role they play in their child’s emotional well-being and growth.

At the heart of my work is a belief in the power of play therapy. Because play is a child’s natural language, it offers a meaningful way for children to explore their inner worlds, communicate emotions, and make sense of their experiences. Through play, children can develop greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and build the confidence and resilience they need to navigate life’s challenges.

I received my Master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I am a provisionally licensed professional counselor (PLPC) in the State of Missouri under the direct supervision of Katie Fischer, LPC, RPT.
