Meet Katie

Welcome! The fact that you have made your way here is HUGE!   It means that you have taken the first step to seeking the help your child. Finding the way to a healthy, happy child is a journey that takes one step at a time. 

My name is Katie Fischer and I am the owner of Stay & Play Counseling, LLC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, and Nationally Certified Counselor who is passionate about using the power of play to help children reach their fullest potential. Each child deserves a personal, unique approach to achieving their best self and I believe Play Therapy is the answer! Play Therapy allows the child to process these struggles through a non-judgemental, play-based approach with a safe, trusting adult. Through Play Therapy, children learn ways to improve communication skills, express feelings appropriately, gain problem solving skills, and develop better relational skills. I value a strong relationship with my client, as well as their caregivers, and communication between the family and therapist.

I work with children (as young as 3 years old) and teens with issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, school-related struggles, death and loss, divorce, peer/sibling conflict, and anger management.
